"Refrain from the Indian jokes, we will"

Films: Nightwing (1979)

Alias: None

Type: Natural

Location: Cave/Desert

Height/Weight: That of average bats.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: Once again, an insect smaller than a dust bunny has gone and ruined any chances of a species catching a break. In this case, it's scores of vampire bats trying to get some shut-eye.

History: In New Mexico, fleas have been spreading the plague across various vampire bats. Now, the furry fliers have been driven mad with bloodlust, and bite and kill who and whatever they find. And yes, this movie has an Native American character claiming that it's all a magic perpetration of evil. Sigh.

Notable Kills: Someone getting bit by bats and wanting to get back in your car? Run her over, apparently.

Final Fate: Eventually, some oil is put to good use, and the bat caves are incinerated, the bats with them.

Powers/Abilities: None

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 2-Sorry, but most of the time, the close ups are too cute, and a lot of shots make the bats look more like props than menaces.

Trivia: -In the same year as it was released, this film won the dubious honor of having the award for Worst Picture at the Hastings Bad Cinema Society's 2nd Stinkers Bad Movie Awards.

-The only bats native to New Mexico don't include vampire bats, but instead harmless ones like the free-tail bat.

As are the mountains, seen here.

A beautiful sight, if not for the massacre to follow.
Suave.

"Hey, babe."
No wonder they're sick! They're pale as sheets!

Say goodbye to survival, due to this development.

Well, it worked for the Chosen Survivors. Worth a shot.
